Hope & Life Movement
The Hope & Life Movement for Widows in the Archdiocese of Bombay was started in 1984 by Bishop Bosco Penha. The first cell at St. Theresa’s commenced with 10 members in 1996 and has grown since.
The main objective of the movement is to create togetherness and provide fellowship for widows so as to assist them with overcoming the past and building a new life with hope. Among our various activities, we visit the sick, the old, and home-bound widows and recite the Rosary. During Lent we reflect on the Stations of the Cross and engage in fellowship.
We also sponsor the sick and less fortunate via donations and help in funding the education of a child, subject to the prior approval of the parish priest and leadership of the movement.
On the fun side, we celebrate Our Lady’s birthday, Christmas and our Anniversary Day with sumptuous snacks, housie, a quiz and a sing-song, and have a great time.
Membership is open to all widows.
We meet on the 2nd Monday of every month from 5:30 – 6:50 pm. Average attendance is 25-30 members.
